A thorough and thoughtful admissions process will make sure that the appropriate level of care is given to every person who enters our program, that the treatment plan reflects the true history and needs of the patient entering treatment, and that no pertinent information has been missed prior to the start of treatment.

Our admissions staff are not simply scheduling appointments. They are committed to taking the time to understand your entire situation, including your mental health history, your current challenges, and your goals, before any decisions are made about your care. What To Expect During Admissions

Initial Contact

Contact us either by phone or by completing the online Contact Us form on our website. One of our admissions professionals will contact you as soon as possible, usually within hours. This initial call will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your situation, ask questions, and get a feel for whether Helios West Palm is the place for you. There will be no commitment required and no pressure placed upon you. Our goal is just to listen.

Clinical Assessment

Once you decide to pursue treatment with us, our clinical team will perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to gain a complete understanding of your situation. This will include your mental health history, any co-occurring substance use or substance use disorders, previous treatment experiences, current medications being taken, and your goals. This clinical evaluation will be the foundation of your individualized treatment plan.

Insurance Verification & Payment

Our admissions team will verify your insurance benefits directly with the insurance company and explain to you what your insurance company will cover and what your out-of-pocket expenses will be, including deductibles, co-pays, or cost-sharing, before you commit to treatment. We work with most major insurance companies and have private pay arrangements as well. There are never any hidden fees or surprises.

Treatment Planning

Once our clinical team has completed a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, they will develop an individualized treatment plan for you based on your mental health conditions, your history, and your goals. For a patient that has co-occurring disorders, the integrated treatment plan will address both the underlying causes of their substance use and mental health components of care. Your treatment plan will reflect who you are and be built around you, not a generic template.

Admission & Orientation

After your admission date is confirmed, our team will review what to expect when you arrive at Helios West Palm, including what to bring, what a daily schedule looks like, what you should expect from our program, and who your care providers will be. We take care to do this so that you arrive at Helios West Palm feeling informed and ready instead of feeling anxious about unknowns.

Discharge Planning & Aftercare

Discharge planning will begin well before your completion of our residential program. Our team will assist you in developing an aftercare plan that will link you to outpatient treatment, community resources, and continuing mental health services that will continue supporting your recovery long after you have completed your stay.

Who We Admit

Helios West Palm accepts adults who are experiencing significant mental illness challenges and require a higher level of care than outpatient therapy or even intensive outpatient programs can provide. Our program is a strong fit for people who are at least moderately functional and have not yet achieved lasting relief through previous treatments, including those whose mental health conditions were not adequately addressed in favor of treating a secondary substance use disorder.

We do not provide treatment for children or adolescents, and we do not treat substance use disorders exclusively or provide detoxification services. Our admissions team will help determine whether Helios West Palm is a match for you — and if not, will direct you to a provider that is.

For Family Members and Referring Providers

We understand that getting inpatient behavioral health treatment for a loved one usually involves family members in the decision-making process, and that mental health professionals, referral partners, social workers, and case managers typically need a reliable point of contact during this process.

Our admissions team can speak directly with families and referral partners regarding our levels of care, our clinical treatment approach, and how to support a smooth transition for patients coming in from another provider or psychiatric hospital setting.

At every step, we are committed to protecting your privacy.

All personal health information we maintain is handled in accordance with HIPAA. The entire admissions process is conducted with discretion, from our initial conversation through your admission. We do not share your personal health information with anyone outside of the Helios West Palm team.
